Iran is expected to produce close to 30,000 metric tons of shrimp in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), head of the Fisheries Organization Hasan Salehi said on Sunday. “Trout production is also expected to increase by nearly 10 to 12 % compared with last year,” he was quoted by Mehr news agency as saying. Iran’s agriculture minister, Mahmouh Hojati, recently said that Iran has reached agreements with countries such as Russia and China for the export of high protein food like shrimp to these countries.
