The National Water and Wastewater Engineering Co. in cooperation with the Energy Ministry is preparing to exclude potable water from non-potable water across the country, news reports said. A pilot experiment has already been conducted in two cities: Mashhad and Qom. Hamidreza Janbaz, managing director of the NWWEC says the massive project would be implemented nationwide after the program is piloted in at least one city in every 32 provinces of the country. Once implemented, the government hopes to distribute sanitary water more easily across the vast country. In recent years, the rapid growth of Iranian population coupled with improved urban living standards have added to the complications of safe and sanitary water supply according to national and international standards.
