More than 4,000 cooperatives were registered during the past Iranian calendar year (ending March 20), creating more than 57,300 jobs across the country, based on statistics released on Tuesday by the ministry of cooperatives, labor and social welfare. On average, 11 cooperatives were registered per day, each employing between 14 to 16 people, IRNA reported, citing the cooperatives ministry’s statistics. The new data shows that with 450 registered cooperatives Fars Province stands on top of the list, while Qom Province is placed at the bottom with only 27 registered cooperatives. The industrial cooperatives were the biggest job-creator units, employing more than 16,000 people across the country during the aforementioned period. They are followed by cooperatives active in the field of agriculture which employed more than 14,400 people.
