8% Growth in Marine Traffic

Iranian ports recorded 8 percent growth in marine traffic during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20) compared with the previous year. The number of ships berthing in Iran’s ports increased from 8,440 vessels of 1,000 tons to 9,122 vessels last year, Ports and Maritime Organization’s deputy head of maritime affairs, Hadi Haghshenas announced on Monday. Moreover, loading and unloading operations in Iran’s ports increased by 5 percent during the past year compared with the previous year, IRNA quoted the official as saying. He also anticipated further growth in the volume of cargo inflow and outflow as well as in the number of ship berthing at Iran’s ports in light of the “overall political developments.”
