Close to 3,700 metric tons of various bony fish species have so far been caught from the Caspian Sea in the northern Mazandaran Province in the current fishing season, which indicates a 6 percent increase compared with the previous year, according to a report by Iran Fisheries Organization. The Caspian Sea fishing season starts from October 12 and extends until April 9 every year. More than 4,200 fishermen in Mazandaran, forming 53 fishing cooperatives, have been participating in fishing activities in the ongoing fishing season, IRNA reported.
