Nearly $6 billion worth of commodity have been traded via border areas of the northwestern Kurdistan Province during the past 11 months of the current year (to end March 20), Mehr news agency quoted the CEO of Kurdistan Province Customs, Bakhtiar Rahmanpour, as saying on Tuesday. The official added that exports via the border region in the same 11-month period recorded a 5% increase in terms of weight and a 9% decrease in terms of value. He went on to say that $95 million worth of commodities were also imported through the strategic border area over the same duration. To the West, Kurdistan is bound by Iraq, which is considered as a top export destination for Iranian goods.
