As per a new memorandum of understanding (MoU), Iran will have exported 25,500 tons of basic commodities to Iraq by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2015), IRNA cited managing director of Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC) and deputy minister of agriculture, Ali Ghanbari as saying on Sunday. “The MoU was signed following several rounds of meetings between Iranian officials and an Iraqi delegation headed by undersecretary of Iraq’s ministry of commerce, Walid al-Musawi to discuss Iran’s export of 8,000 tons of refined cooking oil and 17,500 tons of sugar in excess of domestic demands to Iraq,” said Ghanbari, adding that the Iraqi delegation has also asked Tehran to export wheat, rice and flour in the near future.
