Iran is ready to supply the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina with oil-based products, Iran’s ambassador to Sarajevo, Seyed Hossein Rajabi, said in a meeting with Vice-President of Republika Srpska, Ramiz Salkic, in Banja Luka on Thursday.
The Iranian diplomat expressed Tehran’s interest in expanding economic and banking cooperation with Sarajevo, IRNA reported.
Salkic, for his part, appreciated Iran’s humanitarian aid to Bosnia and Herzegovina towards rebuilding war-stricken areas, rehabilitating refugees and promoting agriculture, and called for enhancing collaboration between the two countries.
The Iranian ambassador also conveyed Iran’s willingness to export technical and engineering services to Republika Srpska and making joint investments in the field of agriculture, in a meeting with head of Republika Srpska’s chamber of commerce, Borko Duric.
The Bosnian official, in turn, called for expansion of ties between the two countries’ businessmen.
Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina have sought to develop their bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in recent years. The two countries’ officials signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for economic cooperation at their first joint economic commission meeting held in Sarajevo in May 2010.
