Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mohamamd-Reza Nematzadeh welcomed expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Tatarstan, in a meeting with Tatar President Rustam Minnikhanov in Tehran on Tuesday. “Tatarstan is actively involved in the area of modern technologies, oil, gas and electronics industries and is willing to expand cooperation with Iran in these areas,” Nematzadeh was quoted by IRNA as saying. Noting that Tatarstan is regarded as one of the major oil regions in the Russian Federation, the Tatar president cited extraction of oil, auto manufacturing, ship building and technological parks as well as robotics and biotechnology as some areas for expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Tatarstan. Minnikhanov, who had earlier met with Iran’s oil minister and the vice-president for science, invited Nematzadeh to visit Tatarstan. Accordingly it was decided that the industry minister travels to Tatarstan along with an economic delegation in the near future to study the avenues for cooperation.
