Saffron Exports Rise

The Union of Saffron Exporters in Khorasan-e Razavi province told ISNA that during the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22), saffron producers exported 35% more saffron compared to the year before. The union added that every year ahead of the harvest season the domestic market experiences a reduction in sales, but added that export would soon be back to normal. Based on statistics from Iran’s Customs Administration, during the Iranian calendar year 1392 - which ended March 20, 2014- Iran exported 100 tons of the precious spice worth $119 million.
