Tehran-Ankara cooperation in railway industry and rail transportation will open a new chapter in trade ties between the two neighboring countries, Iran’s consul general to Turkey, Mohsen Mortezaeifar, said on Monday, addressing the International Congress on Advanced Railway Engineering in Istanbul. “Railway expansion is a key factor for social and economic development,” the official was quoted by IRNA as saying. The two-day event, which will wrap up on Wednesday, was arranged by Istanbul University in collaboration with Iran University of Science and Technology, Iranian Association of Rail Transport Engineering, Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Turkish State Railways, and the Center of Excellence in Railway Transportation (CERT).
