Iran is expected to export 70,000 metric tons of eggs by the end of the current (ending March 20), which is twice the amount exported last year, secretary-general of Iran’s Egg-Laying Hens Association, Farzad Talakesh, said on Tuesday. “About 63,000 metric tons of eggs have been exported so far this year,” he was quoted by Mehr news agency as saying. He added that Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Oman are the major export destinations for Iranian eggs. The official also noted that Iran produces a surplus of 500 tons of eggs on a daily basis.
