Bread prices will increase in the upcoming calendar year (to start March 21); Fars news agency quoted Arsalan Fat’hipoor, the head of the parliament’s economic commission as saying on Saturday. The government authorized bakeries to raise bread prices by 50 percent in Tehran two months ago. Officials argued at the time that the decision was made to satisfy both the bakers who complained about low prices and the consumers who were unhappy with low quality bread.
