Rail freight transport increased by nearly 8% this year, head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaie, said on Saturday.“This is an unprecedented record within the past ten years,” he was quoted by IRIB as saying. “Last year, 22.4 billion tons of commodities were transported via railway,” he said. Referring to a trilateral meeting of Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan’s rails officials, which was held in Tehran on Saturday, he said the attendees negotiated a unified tariff system on goods transported between the three countries.
