A major bridge building project, called Persian Gulf Bridge, which was to be inaugurated in 2013, has a physical progress of only 3%, said the secretary of Center for Free and Special Economic Zones. Akbar Torkan said the Rouhani government took over the $1.1 billion project while only $45 million had been spent on it previously. The Persian Gulf Bridge will be a 2.2 kilometer long bridge that intends to connect Qeshm Island to Bandar Abbas on mainland Iran.
