The country’s research budget is to dramatically increase by 2025. Based on general policies outlined by the Leader on science and technology, the current 2.3 trillion rials ($864 million) research budget should increase by up to 4% of the GDP. The new policies emphasize optimal use of resources and improvement of productivity. Based on the 20-Year Vision Plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country should stand first in the region in terms of science and technology by 2025.
