With more than 2 million metric tons of chicken meat produced per annum, Iran has become self-sufficient in chicken farming, deputy minister of agricultural Jihad, Hassan Rokni said on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of a poultry farm on Sunday. Iran exported 55,000 tons of chicken meat in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-January 20), Rokni added. The official said that Iran produces a surplus of 10,000 tons of white meat every month and exports poultry and fish to 10 countries. In the first six months of the current year (to end March 20), the export of chicken meat from Iran registered an increase of 80% compared to the same period last year.
