Prices in rural areas rose 0.6 percent during the months of Dey (ending January 20), a recent report released by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) shows. The year-on-year inflation rate in Iran’s rural areas dropped to 14.9 percent in Dey, showing a 110 basis point decrease compared to year-on-year inflation for the prior month. The year on year inflation for Azar stood at 16 percent. The rural consumer price index (CPI) stood at 214.5 points for Dey. The CPI for food, beverages, and tobacco group stood at 237.9 points in Dey, showing a 0.2 percent increase compared to the prior month. The CPI for non-food items and services reached 198.8 points in Dey, registering a 1.0 percent increase compared to the previous months, and 17.2 percent increase compared to the same month last year, the report said.
