In a meeting Tuesday between Iran’s Minister of Economy and Finance Affairs, Ali Tayebnia, and Turkish Minister of Customs and Trade, Nurettin Canikli, both sides agreed to form a joint committee to be tasked with scoping out possible avenues for customs cooperation. “Economic, trade and diplomatic cooperation between Iran and Turkey can play a very effective role in the region,” Tayebnia was quoted by IRNA as saying. Referring to a preferential trade agreement, which was recently signed between Tehran and Ankara, the Turkish official said: “The PTA will help strengthen trade and economic relations between the two sides.”
