The country’s cement export decreased 10% during the first 9 months of the Iranian calendar year compared to the similar period last year, the secretary of Iranian Cement Industry Employers Association told ISNA on Wednesday. Abdolreza Sheikhan said despite the decrease in cement export, the export of clinker, as the raw material to produce cement, grew 37%; therefore the total cement-clinker export was unchanged during the period. During the 3-quarter period, 4.5 million metric tons of clinker was exported while the figure for cement stood above 10 million. The cement production over the period topped 51 million metric tons while only 14.5 million metric tons of cement and clinker were exported to countries such as Iraq, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Russia. Iraq had the largest share with 51%.
