A total of 585,906 cases of theft were reported in the fiscal 2016-17, registering a rise of 7% compared with five years before, the Statistical Center of Iran said. The nationwide rate was one case per 136 people while theft from cars and home burglary accounted for 40% and 14% of all reported cases.
