Giant carmakers Iran Khodro and Saipa produced 83% of the vehicles in the market during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (ending December 21, 2014), reported ISNA on Wednesday.
Iran Khodro (IKCO) produced 49% of the vehicles and Saipa made 34% of the vehicles during the nine-month period. Other carmakers supplied 9% while the remaining 8% of the vehicles were imported.
The IKCO also topped the chart in producing light commercial vehicles with a 60.6% of the market share, followed by Saipa with 34.2%. No van or pick-up truck was imported during the period, the report said. Meanwhile, the IKCO and Saipa failed to hold their lead in the heavy vehicles sector. Other automakers produced a total of 60.6% of the heavy vehicles while Saipa ranked the second with 23.8%, followed by the IKCO with 15.6%. The importers’ share was nil for heavy vehicles.
