A special committee has been established to accelerate medicine import to Iraq and circumvent international procedures for the registry of pharmaceutical products.
The committee comprises the vice chairman of the Drug and Health Committee of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Iranian pharmaceutical companies, a deputy minister of health and the Iranian commercial attache to Iraq, Nasser Behzad, who was introduced as the representative of Iran’s ambassador to the committee.
In a meeting attended by Iraj Masjedi, the Iranian ambassador, and Adela Hamoud Alaboudi, Iraq’s health minister, the two sides discussed the timing of drug registration, IRNA reported on Tuesday.
The two sides expressed readiness to build medical complexes and boost bilateral medical cooperation and services delivered by the two countries to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims.
“The reform of drug registration processes in Iraq will prepare the ground for importing medicine and addressing the needs of Iraqis,” Masjedi said.
Alaboudi agreed with the statement, noting that Iranian medicine has been well-received in Iraq both in terms of quality and price.
The committee is set to hold its technical meeting in the Iraqi Health Ministry.
