Delegates from 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region convened in the central city of Da Nang, Vietnam to discuss postal regulations and expand regional relations. The Asian-Pacific Postal Union Executive Council Meeting 2018 (APPU-EC) opened on June 25 and will conclude on June 29. Iran is a member of the union and currently is in charge of managing future Asian-Pacific Postal Union events over the next years before the general assembly in 2021, reported the ICT Ministry’s official website. The conference aims to find common ground and arrive at proposals that can be presented at the Universal Postal Union, to be held in Ethiopia in the coming September. Moreover, the representatives of member states are to forge new ties and establish development schemes. Hossein Nemati, CEO of Iran Post, the country’s state-owned national post company, gave a speech in the opening ceremony, underlining the gathering’s role in developing innovative approaches and opening up new horizons for the relations among member countries.
