Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization signed a memorandum of understanding to implement the Iran Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange (known as ISPX) programs.
The MoU is aimed at expanding cooperation, strengthening partnership and using resources and capacities efficiently to help small industries develop contracting activities in international systems.
According to Gholamhossein Shafei, chairman of ICCIMA, the agreement could prove effective in improving small industries and industrial parks.
According to Sadeq Najafi, the head of ISIPO, the chamber of commerce will be the main executive of the project and ISIPO will play a supporting role.
The United Nation Industrial Development Organization in 1982 established the promotional program of industrial partnership and outsourcing, now known as Industrial Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange.
At the heart of the program, UNIDO strives to promote and recommend the acceptance of “industrial partnership” that refers to long-term and equitable industrial outsourcing based on the specialization and technological expertise of subcontractors or suppliers.
Within this context, UNIDO has launched the program to help developing countries benefit from advantages generated through industrial subcontracting agreements between large and small companies.
UNIDO has thus conceptualized a specific method to satisfy its objectives and ensure that minimal conditions exist in countries to stand by viable outsourcing relationship. This involves the implementation of ISPX programs.
ISPX are undertaken at technical information centers for matchmaking among buyers, suppliers and subcontractors, aiming at the most optimal (the most complete, the most logical and the most efficient) usage of productive capacities of affiliated industries.
In fact, ISPX not only appears like meeting points and instruments of regulation between offer and demand of industrial outsourcing jobs, but also as instruments of assistance for the two partners, particularly for small and medium subcontractors or suppliers.
ISPX follows several aims, including identifying, creating, and developing new markets for contractors; boosting members’ capabilities; and facilitating productive relations between employers and contractors.
Iran is home to 85,000 industrial units, 92% of which are small- and medium-sized, creating 1.3 million jobs.
By definition, enterprises run by 100 workers or less, and 50 workers or less are considered medium- and small-sized businesses respectively, according to Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization.
In related news, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Urban Development and Architecture Mohammad Saeed Izadi recently voiced the council’s objection over the development of non-governmental industrial towns in the counties of Tehran Province, namely Robat Karim, Shahr-e Qods, Safadasht, Golestan and Nasirshahr, in a letter to Tehran Governor General Mohammad Hossein Moqimi, IRNA reported.
