Leather Industry Generates 115K production, Sales Jobs

The domestic leather industry has created close to 100,000 jobs in sales outlets and about 15,000 in production units.

According to Sadeq Najafi, the head of Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization, lack of training, absence of a national brand and inefficient distribution system inside and outside the country are the main shortcomings of the Iranian leather industry, ISNA reported.

More than 108 million square feet of different kinds of leather are produced in 225 production units in Iran annually.

Heavy leather and light leather account for 60 million and 48 million square feet of the total sum respectively. 

A total of 468 tons of sole leather are produced in Iran per annum.
