Subsidiaries of National Iranian Copper Industries Company produced 107,795 tons of copper concentrate in the last fiscal year (March, 2017-18), registering a 15% growth year-on-year. Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex accounted for 66,876 tons of the total figure, up 20% YOY. It was followed by Sungun complex with 26,839 tons, up 5%, and Miduk complex with 14,080 tons up 11%, according to data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization. The three mines’ anode and cathode output were up 29% and 6% to 24,761 and 14,211 tons respectively. NICICO also extracted 16.16 million tons of oxide copper ore during the month, up 19%. Sulfide ore extraction grew 10% to 4.84 million tons. Iran is home to 68 types of minerals with over 37 billion tons of proven and 57 billion tons of potential reserves, including large deposits of coal, iron ore, copper, lead, zinc, chromium, uranium and gold.
