Kharazmi Technology Development Company inaugurated a pure nickel ingot production plant at its headquarters in Alborz Province on Sunday. The plant, inaugurated by Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, will feed the demand of upstream industries, including steel, oil and petrochemicals, for catalysts. According to Kharazmi’s Managing Director Jalil Sobhani, the plant has the capacity to produce 7 tons of ingots per month. Iran is currently an importer of base metal catalysts such as nickel from British and Danish suppliers with orders reaching $200 million annually, ILNA reported. The new plant is expected to put Iran on the path to self-sufficiency in nickel ingot production.
