More than 34,000 construction permits were issued by the municipalities across the country in the spring of the current year (March 21- June 21), registering a 45.5 percent decrease compared to the previous season and a 38.4 percent slump compared to the same season last year, the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) reported on Thursday.
Out of the total amount of the issued permits in spring, 3,302 (9.6 percent) were aimed at improving the existing structures and 30,935 (90.4 percent) went to the construction of new structures, the report says.
The Tehran Municipality issued 3,522 permits alone in spring, which shows a 2.9 percent decrease compared to the previous season and a 50.5 percent decline compared to the same season last year.
