A new gold mine has been discovered on the outskirts of the northeastern city of Kashmar, in Khorasan-e Razavi province, IRNA cited the head of the provincial Industry, Mine and Trade Organization as saying on Tuesday. According to Raziyyeh Alirezaei, the mine contains some 900,000 metric tons of gold ore. She added that the exploration of the mine cost 3.4 billion rials ($127,100 based on official exchange rate). Meanwhile, Iran’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) has said around 20 metric tons of gold have been added to the country’s reserves since last year.
