Close to $2 billion worth of nuts and dried fruit were exported from Iran in the last Iranian year (March 2017-18), registering a 9% decrease compared with the corresponding period of the year before, the head of Dried Fruit and Nut Exporters Union said. “The main export destinations for these products over the period were China, the Russian Federation, the littoral countries of the Persian Gulf and European Union member states,” Mohammad Hassan Shamsfard was also quoted as saying by Mizan Online. The official added that pistachios, raisins, dates and dried figs are Iran’s main exported nuts and dried fruit. Iran is the biggest producer and exporter of dates. It is also the second biggest producer and export of pistachio after the United States.
