Iran’s vice president for science and technology believes that studies focusing on cryptocurrencies should be included in the long-term plans of the country since a decision on the issue cannot be reached in the short run. Sorena Sattari also told IBENA in an interview that such studies have begun in the country, as the world is moving toward the use of cryptocurrencies. He added that forecasts point to the fact that the use of these tools will only grow in the future, although many of their aspects are still unknown. Iran has indicated that it intends to create a national virtual currency. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi said this week that Monetary and Banking Research Institute, affiliated with the Central Bank of Iran, is one of the entities involved in the national virtual currency project and tasked with supervising it.
