Nearly 70% of the glass used in the country’s automotive industry is domestically manufactured, said Mohammad Fatemian, the general manager for the bureau of mineral industries at the ministry of industry, mine, and trade. The official referred to the agreements signed with the Glass Association during the past two years, saying the move significantly increased domestic production of glass used in auto industry, ISNA reported on Saturday. Iran currently produces laminated and tempered glass for cars used as windshield. Modern glass used in auto industry often features self-cleaning coatings, which means they can literally clean themselves through the action of water by rolling droplets. The modern global car manufacturing sector prefers to use more glass for the exterior of vehicles.
