With 229 vessels, Iran accounts for 1.1% of the global maritime transportation capacity and ranks 20th in this respect.

Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Mohammad Rastad made the above statement at the 25th Conference on Iran’s Maritime Organizations in Tehran on Tuesday.

The official added that Iran ranks 69th, 57th and 71st in export revenues earned from maritime transportation, maritime transportation infrastructure and port services quality respectively, IRNA reported. 

“Global container loading and unloading amounts to 145 million TEUs per year and Iran accounts for 3 million TEUs of this sum,” he said.
