About 805,000 tons of goods were transited into the country from Bazargan border crossing in West Azarbaijan Province (northwestern Iran bordering Turkey) during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2017).

This made Bazargan Iran’s third most active border crossing after Shahid Rajaee Port and Parvizkhan border crossing, director general of West Azarbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization said.

“The total transited goods that entered the country during the period stood at 7.6 million tons. Bazargan border crossing accounted for close to 11% of the transits. These goods mainly headed to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, the littoral counties of the Persian Gulf and Southwest Asia,” Abdolhossein Ali-Akbari was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

“Goods transited through this border crossing mainly consisted of agricultural and livestock products, light metals, construction materials, minerals and chemicals,” he added.

Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern Hormozgan and Parvizkhan border crossing in the western Kermanshah Province accounted for 36% and 15% of all the transits respectively over the 10-month period.
