TCCIM Meeting to Discuss Trade With India

Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture will meet on January 30 to discuss ways to expand exports to India. Latest statistics released by the Customs Administration of Iran show India was the fifth biggest importer of Iranian goods during the ten months to Jan. 20. The South Asian country bought 8.33 million tons of products worth $2.27 billion to constitute more than 6% of Iran’s total exports in terms of value and 8% in terms of volume. Exports to India during the period increased by 5% in terms of weight and decreased by 3% in terms of value YOY. Apart from oil, Iran mainly exports gold and jewelry, metal scrap, stones, chemical products, steel, non-ferrous metals, nuts, tar, oil tar, natural rubber, leather, legumes, wool and motor oil to India. The customs office said exports to India have been on a relatively steady trend with a slight uptrend since March 2013-14 when it reached the lowest level of $2.41 billion.
