Iran Airports Company registered 38,343 takeoffs and landings in the Iranian month ending Dec. 22, which shows a 13% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.

Close to 4.8 million passengers and 44,097 tons of cargo were transported during the period, indicating a 13% and 9% year-on-year growth respectively, IAC’s website reported.

As for domestic flights, 31,894 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 17% YOY. More than 3.81 million passengers and 26,749 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating a YOY rise of 15% and 11% respectively.

On the international front, about 6,449 takeoffs and landings were registered, decreasing 3% YOY. A total of 939,933 passengers and 17,347 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, posting a 3% and 7% increase respectively YOY.

Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran Airports Company is affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
