Iran exported some 22,300 tons of sanitaryware worth $15 million during the eight months to Nov. 21, 2017, the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade announced.
Last year’s (March 2016-17) exports stood at 34,000 tons worth $21.8 million, IRNA reported.
Production stood at 56,800 tons during the seven months to Oct. 22, registering a 25.6% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Domestic demand for sanitaryware is between 45,000 and 50,000 tons per year. There are 10 companies active in the field in Iran, producing close to 70,000 tons of different kinds of sanitaryware annually.
The nominal production capacity created for these products is close to 100,000 tons per annum.
The first sanitaryware production unit was launched in Iran about 50 years ago.
