Hormozgan Steel Company plans to double its slab output capacity to 3 million tons per year, the company’s manager said. The steelmaker also expects to produce 1.5 million tons of the material by the end of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2018), Farzad Arzani added. “We have produced 1.03 million tons of slab during the nine months since the beginning of the current [Iranian] year [March 21-Dec. 21], and registered a 30% growth [year-on-year],” Arzani was quoted as saying by Donya-e-Eqtesad. More than 96% of HOSCO’s shares are owned by Iran’s largest steelmaker, Mobarakeh Steel Company. The subsidiary has outperformed its parent company in terms of exports for sixth months in a row this year by shipping 851,138 tons of slabs overseas.
