The newly-purchased ATRs by Iran Air, the country’s national carrier, have been covered by Iran Insurance Company, the company’s deputy for ships, aircraft and cargo insurance announced. Mohammad Rahmati also told IBENA that based on a binding contract between the two firms, the new fleet entering Iran Air will automatically receive insurance policies by the state-owned insurer.  He explained that the coverage includes passenger liability, third-party and the fuselage. Two new ATR aircraft landed in Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport on Saturday. Iran Ai signed a contract with the Franco-Italian planemaker in April to purchase 20 ATR 72-600 planes worth $400 million based on list prices. Six of the turboprop short-haul regional airliners have already been delivered to Iran so far. The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran has issued the registration license and flight permit for the two 70-seat jets.
