Angouran Lead and Zinc Mine set a new monthly record by extracting 105,000 tons of minerals during the seventh month of the current fiscal year (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), managing director of the mine, Mansour Shabani, said. Mehdi Karbasian, the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, said the mine’s processing facilities have produced about 450,000 tons of zinc during the seven-month period from March 21 to Oct. 22. Iran’s most abundant lead and zinc reserves are found in Angouran Mine located in Zanjan Province, with an estimated reserve of 23 million tons, including a zinc concentration of 26% and lead concentration of 6%, IMIDRO reported.
