Measures to Combat Tax Evasion

All payments and transactions pertaining to people’s bank accounts dating back to the beginning of the previous fiscal year in March 2016 will be disclosed to the Iranian National Tax Administration, the head of the Majlis Economic Commission announced. “Since 70% of the reported bank transactions belong to people without financial identities, it was decided in a joint meeting between INTA officials and private sector representatives that any effort to identify their incomes and tax evasions will be done by INTA so that the government can receive its rightful taxes,” Mohammad Reza Pour-Ebrahimi was also quoted as saying by Banker.ir. According to the official, for accounts related to 2011-16, only transactions higher than 50 billion rials ($1.25 million) will be probed.
