Agro Production Wastes as Fodder

A project to use agricultural production waste as livestock feed will be piloted in 11 provinces by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2018), an official with the Ministry of Agriculture said. “Field residues of pistachio, potato, sugarcanes and dates, as well as wastes from juice and fruit and vegetable paste production in factories, will be used as animal feed. [Apart from being cost effective] This can also help contain the environmental implications of these agro wastes,” Touraj Saremi was also quoted as saying by IRNA. According to Saremi, fodder accounts for between 60% and 70% of production costs in livestock farms.
