Khazar Sea Shipping Lines transported a record high of 217,988 tons of cargo in the sixth Iranian month (ended Sept. 22), registering a 34.3% rise compared with the similar period of last year. The rise comes despite the grounding of two vessels with a capacity of over 9,000 tons due to regular maintenance and repair services during the whole month, ILNA quoted KSSL Managing Director Mehrdad Baqeri-Nejad as saying. He added that the shipping volume during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21-Sept. 22) grew 3% year-on-year. A subsidiary of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, KSSL started operating in the Caspian Sea in 1992. The company ships to and from ports in Caspian Sea littoral states, including those in Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
