IIC to Insure New ATRs

Iran Insurance Company will cover the two ATR planes recently purchased by Iran Air, the head of IIC’s shipping, aircraft and transportation insurances announced. According to Majid Rahmati, Iran Air and IIC have a contract that puts all of the flagship airline’s aircraft under IIC’s protection and the new planes are no exception, IBENA reported. Rahmati noted that their insurance policies for Iran Air’s fleet are comprehensive as they cover passengers, third parties and the plane itself. “If anything happens to a passenger during a flight, IIC will cover all the medical expenses,” he added. The IIC official noted that some foreign countries require an insurance policy valued up to $1 billion to allow a plane to land in their airports, which he said was no worry to the insurer since its policies meet the highest global standards.
