More than 51,000 tons of aluminum ingots have been exported by Almahdi Hormozgan Aluminum Company since the beginning of the Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014), IRIB reported on Wednesday. Some $106 million worth of ingots were exported to countries such as Turkey, India, Italy, and Taiwan during the same period, Ali Akbar Golkar, the CEO of the company, was quoted as saying. “The company has produced 112,855 tons of ingots during this period”, he said, noting that the number is expected to increase to 177,000 metric tons during the remaining months of the year. Iran is the 20th largest producer of aluminum in the world, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), and needs its aluminum surplus to be used for meeting the domestic demand, which has grown by 10% recently.
