The 28th Islamic Banking Conference is scheduled to be held in Tehran from August 29-30, the official website of the Central Bank of Iran announced. During the annual conference, experts, academics and monetary analysts will discuss “Bank Credit System for Supporting Production and Employment” within the framework of Islamic banking. The Islamic Banking Conference has been held in the past 27 years uninterruptedly and is considered the biggest event in its field. Last year’s event focused on the interaction of usury-free banking with international banking. The passage of the Usury-Free Banking Law in 1983 was a hallmark of Iran’s economic and banking achievements, but the law is set to get a much-needed upgrade with the passage of Banking Reform Bill in the near future.
