The managing directors of Kish and Qeshm free trade zone organizations have signed a joint cooperation agreement with the Iranian National Standard Organization (INSO), IRNA reported.
The agreement is expected to help enhance exports from the FTZs in Iran, according to the CEO of Qeshm FTZO.
“Instead of focusing on imports, FTZs need to shift to exports,” said Ali Akbar Shabani, who added that the issue is currently being considered by the Supreme Council of Iran’s Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones.
Shabani said the law had required the FTZs to adhere to standards and cooperate with INSO.
Referring to the improvement of development indexes in these areas, he said that practical policies need to be adopted in these zones immediately to enhance standardization.
To this end, said Shabani, standard up-to-date technologies are being employed in the southern island of Qeshm. He also said that agreements have been signed with eight medical sciences universities.
For his part, Ali Asghar Mounesan, the CEO of Kish FTZO, said that his organization has already signed an agreement with the ISNO, which has helped to facilitate business activities in the southern island.
“Now, 400 manufacturing units in the fields of industries, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and food industries are working in Kish, and these are known as top-level producers in Iran,” said Mounesan. He expressed hope that the new agreement will help with the development of trade and export in the free zones.
