More than 132 trillion rials worth of government securities have been transferred via initial public offerings (IPO) to the assignees since 2005 in accordance with the Article 44 of the Constitution, Iran Privatization Organization’s public relations office reported. Of all the transferred shares, 73.6 trillion rials, accounting for 55.9 percent of the total amount, have been offered to the public, while around 28.4 trillion rials of the shares went through the IPO to be offered directly to the government’s creditors, including both individual and institutional investors. In addition, justice shares comprised nearly 29.8 trillion rials, accounting 21.5 and 22.6 percent, of the total amount of stocks offered in the past 10 years.
