About 2,100 tons of zinc ingots valued at $5 million were exported from Hormozgan Province to Europe and East Asia during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (started March 21), indicating a 23% and 53% growth in volume and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, Chairman of Hormozgan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization Khalil Qasemi said. Zinc ingots are used in auto manufacturing and galvanized flat steel production. Bandar Abbas Zinc Product Company, with an 18,000-ton annual production capacity, is Hormozgan’s most prominent zinc producer, IRNA reported.
